Dont cook your seedlings !
« on: March 23, 2011, 15:21 »
I've just rescued a tray of tomato seedlings I'd put in the greenhouse this morning.

Its very warm in there (33deg) and the sun / heat was just too much for them, they're in a shade spot now after having a good soaking.

I just caught mine yesterday. It was 28ºC with all the vents and windows open. Still, we mustn't complain about this lovely weather. Just what we need at this time of year.  :)

next weeks' snow will probably go some way to keeping the solar rays off!

Wouldn't it be nice if all the weather forecasters could agree?

It's a bit like asking gardeners how they would plant something.

As per  Lardmans post, it's too easy tp put the fleece on for the night, and then forget to ventilate the greenhouse or coldframe during the day and then get some bright sunshine and the temp shoots up unless the vents/windows are opened.

I agree, but nipper was complaining about 2 or 3 degrees and i was just saying how low it has been here overnight. no need to refer me back to Lardmans post

I am having the same cold night problem, and using fleece ::)...................and yes you do have to remember to open windows/remove fleece..........my suggestion of shading would help though, I think

I agree with you. No need to bite me head off!

As per my link, most of the forecasters don't seem to be able to agree what day it is tomorrow, let alone what the weather is going to be like.
