ive never checked others  , but im led to believe 6 inches is the norm,BUT

Thanks for all your posts, I must confess I've never had a ruler to hand when planting my spuds and really could'nt say how deep my trenches have been, but as dear wifey gave me a splendid (expensive looking) vegetable planting yardstick for Christmas I must appear to be doing a technical looking job of planting out this year.

    Good plan; please your wife first, spuds second (much easier!)
