Passiflora
« on: March 17, 2011, 14:39 »
Last year I had a passiflora that grew like a weed (Constance Elliot).  Now it is spring time I'm not sure if it is still alive after the very cold winter we had.

Am I meant to prune it, or will it sprout again as it is?  At the moment it looks like dry brown twigs with shrivelled leaves, but I'm not sure what they are meant to look like over winter!

I don't think they take much pruning, just a tidy up :unsure:..........wait for the buds to fatten up so you see can where to cut to.

Well, that's what I do anyway  ::)

I'm wondering if it has been killed off... we had a few days of very cold weather (down to -20*C over night) and although the leaves stayes green for quite a long time, after the cold snap they turned brown (my honeysuckle is still green).

If I need to replace it, I'd prefer to do it sooner rather than later... in light of up coming trip! ;)  My mum doesn't do gardens either!

well here in Kent they've never kept there leaves all winter  :(

Scrape a bit of bark back near the earth and see if there is any green underneath, if there is then it's alive :)
