people on our site often use those little yoghurt drink pots - the ones that are supposed to contain good bacteria (load of bunkham if you ask me  :tongue2: )
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Would spare/old ping pong balls work ? Tennis balls, just make a tight fitting hole so it sticks to the cane.

Plastic fizzy/water bottles (any size - even the 2 litre bottles), drinks cans or washed out food tins.

Not free, but I occassionally buy a big bag of cheap plastic coloured balls out of the kids toys section, cut a little x with a stanley knife on the balls and push onto cane.

Ping-pong balls work quite well but tend to split after a while.... hard to find a readily available source that's either cheap or free.

I use orange, yellow or black sherbert pots as you can see below. They are excellent as they are easy to see, stay on and were free!!

My school PTA over ordered tubs of sweets and the children were slow to buy them at the Halloween Disco. After spending a year or more at the back of the cupboard someone decided to throw the lot out. Wonderful

They were pluzzled but pleased to have me cart them away. Once the sherbet was shaken out I was left with about 100 useful cane toppers.

You might be lucky to come across something similar.

Now I remember.... lots of people have been using these. Somewhere there's a previous thread all about them.  ;)
