[Tim the Henman]

Hi All/ Today we noticed one of my Ex-Batts which is about 2 years old or so, has got a "Blueish" look to part of its comb! Can anyone say what i might be?? Or would it be from having its Comb bitten by another Hen??  Any Info welcome.   Tim

Blue combs and/or wattles can be due to poor circulation.

You may want to consider a trip to the vet to rule out a heart condition

I'm afraid I can't tell you what it is, but I had a Derbyshire Redcap whose comb turned purplish back in January. It also became lethargic, and a day or so later it wasn't able to make it up the ramp to roost. I helped it back in but it didn't last the night.

When I googled 'purple comb', in addition to the suggestions about circulation, there were also suggestions that it could indicate other underlying health problems such as infections. If this was the case, fortunately none of my other chickens were affected.

it can also be a sign of a lack of vitamin B so you could try a thin scraping of marmite on a bit of toast (only a little as it is very salty)
