Leek question
« on: March 13, 2011, 21:25 »
We were rather late planting our leeks last year and were hoping they would be ready for Christmas, they were not much thicker than a stick of chalk, so we left them.

Should we give them up as a lost cause and dig them up or now that spring (hopefully!) is on it's way leave them in. Question is : will they grow?
we also rescue rabbits and guinea pigs, grow own veg

They'll grow and run to seed.

I'd use them if you can.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If you dont start harvesting them soon they will go to seed and the middle becomes woody.
Pull out what you have over the next few weeks - put them in soups if not enough for a meal

Thanks for the replies, will dig them up over the next few days and prepare them for the dinner plate.
