Green potatoes
« on: March 13, 2011, 18:40 »
I found some potatoes in my drawer that have turned green and have roots growing out of them. Can i plant these on my plot? Will they grow?

They will grow, but unless you use certified seed potatoes, you run the risk of introducing disease.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Can you remember if they came from the supermarket or a proper potato supplier?

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Then I would say that it is not worth the risk.  As DD says, you run the risk of introducing disease to your plot and also that of others nearby.  Certified seed spuds are not expensive at this time of year and should be used in preference.

Thank you for your replies.
I've just spent an afternoon digging up couch grass and mares tail, last thing i want to do is spread diseases.
I'll whizz them in the bin
