In my local area a woman has won the right to keep hens in her rented accom

BBC news North west 8th March 2011
A Greater Manchester woman has fought off an attempt by her housing association to stop her keeping chickens in her back garden.

Natasha Brooks, from Ashton-Under-Lyne, won the day after quoting a little used law which encourages people to grow their own food.

hi i have just been refused by my housing association to keep chickens in my back garden, i have just read about natasha have you any idea which law she used or how to contact her... i too would like to challenge my housing association .

two castles housing association has now agreed to my keeping chickens! after 3 requests then involving the the citizen advice bureau quoting natasha s victory in ashton under lyne  i now have permission! allotments act 1950 . have your own eggs in your own garden.
