[Kazoo]

Hi All

I am a bit worried about one of my chickens, when I let them out this morning they started chasing something, I tried to see what it was but they were so quick.  One of them caught what they had been chasing and so of course the others chased it trying to get it off her, by the time I caught up with them I could see it was a mouse, before I had the chance to get it she swallowed it whole.  Bit concerned now that it may cause some ill effects .. any thoughts?

She'll be fine. A few years ago we emptied a hay barn and found a rats nest with loads of babies. We scooped them up with the shovel and put them outside and the chicken went mad for them, chasing each other round the yard.

Thanks Guys, you have made me feel a whole lot better! Been checking her through the day and she is as fiesty as ever, not a pretty sight at 6am though!  Looks like the cats got some competition!

No one ever said chickens were vegetarians!!!  After all, look at the worms and insects they eat, but although I've seen our chickesn eat mice, never seen one go down whole.  Imagine what the inside of her crop looked like!!!

hmm just realised that I wont be able to free range my chickens accross the whole garden eventually as I planned as I am lucky enough to have frogs, toads, newts and crested newts too which I really do not want the chickens to feast on.
