Egg Yolk Peritonitis - Crop Tube Feeding
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:43 »
Hi all,

On Thursday we noticed what looked like cooked egg in our 3 year old ex-batt's faeces and so took her to the vets the next day.  She seemed a little withdrawn but fairly well within herself.

He said we'd caught it early and gave her a jab, and we now have to give her medicine through a tube down her throat and into her crop - not a nice task!

Just wondering if anyone else has done this and whether you have any tips?  We've done it twice so far so I guess there's not much more we can do better, it's just so nerve-wracking!

Also, whilst administering yesterday's dose, she pooped on our table and it seemed a nice healthy one - no yellow - would you say this suggests it's clearing up, or should I not get too excited?

Thanks!
