Do you mean spring onions as in the long thin ones, or spring planted onion sets?

If it's sets that you've planted they should be OK as long as we don't get a long spell of really severe weather.

I will sow in open ground next month, but have started some off in modules, (a pinch to each module) in the unheated greenhouse.

I'd leave them in the ground and see what they do.  If you have a greenhouse, cold frame, or cool room indoors then you could try sowing in modules as DD has done - failing that, prepare to sow another row in the garden in a month or so.

Could cover the ones already in the ground with fleece if you have any. Or a small poly tunnel, cold frame etc.  Maybe make a /\ out of old glass.

Block the ends if you can otherwise you could end up with a mini wind tunnel
