Acacia
« on: March 02, 2011, 19:34 »
Hello all, I haven't been on here for ages, I hope everybody is well.

I have an acacia tree in my garden, it's about 2-3 years old. All the leaves and flower buds have turned brown, there is no new growth at all, the whole thing looks dead as a dodo.  Do you think I have lost it? I think the weather before Christmas did for it.  I can post a pic up tomorrow morning if that helps.

Many thanks for any replies.

RR

Try gently scraping away the top layer of bark from somewhere fairly low down on the main stem with your thumbnail.  If it is dry and brown underneath the top layer, it probably isn't going to recover.  If it is white or green, then it is still alive.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Acacias are cut back by hard frosts and possibly killed outright.   However they may regrow from the roots.
