 :)Hello,i've have Appleyards,big ducks white but they lay more than my hens,so much so that i have regular customers to buy my surplus.I intend to breed of them this year,when my Drake starts to do the business. :tongue2: :tongue2:

Welsh harlequins and runners are good too.

I think it is Kortlang khaki campbells that is the strain for best egg laying. I have khakis, no idea what strain but they started to lay during the very cold weather in D :)ec and have continued.

I have silver campbells and Aylesburys and all are good layers. Latter slightly bigger egg and perhaps the Campbell has very slight edge on numbers.
My ducks have a winter non laying period which is I think longer than for chucks though.

I had aylesburys & KC. Both were great layers/ everyday. Big white/bluish eggs.

We have three Khaki Campbells and, aside from when the weather was really really cold, we've had an egg a day from each...

i have some khaki campbells which have laid great, they are slowly starting again after moulting

at what age will the ducks stop laying?

I'm by no means an authority on when they stop laying but believe it's around 5-6 years old.  They'll live to 12, although I guess if they're not kept as pets they won't be kept to this age for many..
