Chitting Seed Potatoes
« on: February 21, 2011, 14:53 »
I have had my earlies chitting for a couple of weeks in a cold dark loft. they are moving too quickly for my liking so how can I slow them down.

My main crop are still in the packets and are not showing yet these are still in the same loft area. How long should I leave them before I start to Chit them????

Your problem is the dark, they need to be somewhere cool & light. The chits are being drawn in their search for light. If they are too long, you can rub them off & chit again. I would set up your lates now, so they don't suffer the same fate.
