Brussels planted last October.
« on: February 16, 2011, 14:04 »
In October last year I bought several Brussel plants that were reduced but looked very healthy. I planted them and theyve come through the winter looking very healthy. As it is totally the wrong time for them, do I leave them (will I get sprouts) or shall I use the space for something productive. Thanks.
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

i doubt wether you will get any sprouts cos it aint cold enough i maybe wrong  so make use of the land for something else  i think they need a good bit of cold to help them mature

does not sound like they'll come to much IMHO, I'd be inclined to use the ground for something else

I agree, this is their second year and come the warmer weather they will just run naturally to seed.

Im my opinion it's irresponsible for garden centres to be selling plants that will come to nothing as it's totally the wrong time of year.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I agree. I suggest you go back to the garden centre and tell them they've mucked you about.  If they don't agree put their name in the thread here so other people can form their own opinion.

Thank you for your replies. I dont have the receipt but will go back to tell them Im not pleased to have been given wrong information (though at the time I did sort of think I was doing the wrong thing) He actually asked another person so 2 of them said it was ok. I will go back as well in October and see what they are selling then and point it out.
