Runner Beans

Tonight I gave next door neighbour half a carrier bag of runner beans. Ooh, thanks he said, I love runner beans. We've just planted some in pots. MIL said they will grow okay.

Didn't like to say anything, but its a bit late for runners isn't it? I've never sown them this late before.

outside they may struggle but inside they will be ok like a conservatory or greenhouse
its a 14 week from sowing to harvest bean so if the weather comes good who knows .we havhad em inn the greenhouse late

He's got them outside in pots Munty. I told him to get the wife a greenhouse, but he's not keen. Said they had one in their last house, but he left it there. Promised to get her a new one here, but then said one day.....maybe........

My first 3 lots of beans died from frost or flooding. My 4th were only planted out about 5 weeks ago but in the last week, since the sun has been out, they have shot up and I have ten little bean pods forming already. I'm hoping it will stay warm into October because my butter beans and borlotto beans are only half way up the wigwams still.

Perhaps we'll have our summer now Yummy, so you'll get loads of beans before the frosts get at em!!!!

remember a green house starts the season earlier and makes it last longer

I know that!!!!! Remember I have 3 greenhouses and a polytunnel now!!!

Hey Munty! Do you remember me saying that eldest daughter's boyfriend and parents paid £500 for a polytunnel last year? Well he managed to get the frame in the ground (just pushed it in, no concrete or anything to hold it in!) but still hasn't got the polythene put up yet!

What a waste of £500 eh?

My Brian said he'll give them £50 for it, its 2nd hand now isn't it?

But I reckon we could give it a better home than them, at least it would get used, and you are nearer than us!!!!! They are only down the road at St. Osyth!!!!! :twisted: :twisted:
