Hi, just wondering at what age a hen will go broody, we have a small bantam type hen ( not sure of her bloodline ) she is just 7 months old, has laid about a dozen lovely white eggs in total, which we have removed as she has laid, she has now taken to sitting in the nestbox most of the day and shows all the usual signs of broodiness, very warm underside and growls!! when I remove any eggs from under her or lift her out ( we have 11 other hens). I'm just suprised as she seems too young. I'll post a pic, as she has a lovely fantail, when I've more time.

they can go broody at any age - just keep removing her from the nest box as often when they are young they don't last the full 3 weeks of sitting.

Do you want to bet.  Mine did for a few months but think the novelty is wearing off now just when I have ordered my eggs for April.
