What I wanted to do was affected by the earlier survey, but what I'm actually doing was skewed by what was available as loose spuds at my local Wyevale :)

Actually, I'm sulking because I wanted to try Marfona but couldn't get them locally.

I've just ordered marfona as second earlies from JBA.

Pent Jav, Maris Bard and Lady Christl. I always like to try different varieties each year.

LC and Sharpe's Express. How are you going to collate this info to compare with what we all grew last year?

Rocket for me this year for a change. Was disappointed with Lady Chrystal last year.
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

Could we have a second poll for the varieties folk are actively NOT growing.  We've tried a number in the past that we have not liked.  I know what people like is subjective, and may be related to soil conditions etc., but it might be a useful resource?

I've never grown International Kidney ("Jersey Royals") before, and I don't intend to as I see plenty of people saying that it is not worth it - but a casual visitor may not have read enough threads to conclude that.

You could start a thread entitled "Potatoes 2011: which varieties are you NOT growing" or similar which might be of interest (don't think a poll would work; you'd have to include every variety currently available!)

I was very disappointed with Rocket last year but I might try them again another time as it could have been weather related.  This year - my favourite Arran Pilot

2 years ago grew homeguard at home in raised bed with homemade compost, family and friends said best new potatoes they had tasted.  Grew them last year at our new allotment and they were smaller and not so good. Growing them again this and hoping for better results.        Does anyone think the compost would make a differance?
