First Early Potatoes 2011 - What are you growing?
« on: February 03, 2011, 20:09 »
What first early variety have you chosen to grow for 2011?
Did last years polls affect this years choices?
Or have you struck off into uncharted spud territory?
Vote and let us know!

If its not listed, tell us about it. Hopefully this, along with the "popular varieties" polls will help the undecided or spread the word on any varieties not previously mentioned.  The list is based on varieties mentioned last year.

I don't see anywhere where it says you are compelled to vote.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

For me it's the reliable PJ's and it would have been Lady Christl, but the local nursery hadn't got any, so I'm having a random stab at Epicure just because I like to try at least one different variety.

Swift for me, not grown them before, but like my "waxy type" which they are described as.
Paul, Andrew, Kevin, Galen - My parents got bored of normal names in the end!

Read about a few then decided in the shop, liked the description on the bag.  If successful i will get them next year as well.

Back to the home guard for me, did Pentland javalin last yr and they dont taste as good.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Pentland Jav and Lady Chrystl for me. Grew Lady Chrystl in containers last year and although they were nice and clean with a nice texture they didn't have a lot of flavour. They're going in the ground this year wi' some muck!

Trying them for the first time this year (in the absence of Lady Christl  :(); even if they taste rubbish they could potentially keep me warm in bed!  ::)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

What I wanted to do was affected by the earlier survey, but what I'm actually doing was skewed by what was available as loose spuds at my local Wyevale :)

Actually, I'm sulking because I wanted to try Marfona but couldn't get them locally.
