well it may be boring for some to want to know how the egg laying is going, but I just started my Chickens here in the Wet muddy UK.

My Chicky's are just coming into lay for the first time and i have 9 out of 30 as we hatched our own and started out knowing whats going into our girls.

That must be exciteing    i remember my first egg, its daft but it was so exciteing . We had our first ones at about 3.5 to 4 months old the guy wasnt precise . i just started off with 4x bantams so if i didnt take to it , it wasnt going to be a disaster .

i love keeping chickens , but i hate eggs....i never eat them except in things like sponges, hubby is a big egg person the  dogs get them  and of course the neighbours benefit too....

3 out of 4 of mine that lay are now laying   It's funny how excited I felt when the 3rd one laid today.  It was almost as if she had laid for the first time even though this is her second year.   Just my cuckoo maran to start laying now.  I don't think my light sussex will ever lay - she hasn't so far and is about 18 months old now.  I got all the hens together from the same breeder and as the eggs are all different I can see who has laid each day.

Oh i get so excited about my eggs i catalog and photo date time who laid as i have a loads of different breeds and all the egg colours are slightly different so it's easy that way but I just enjoy seeing them come into lay and i am so Proud Like a momma Hen hehe..

I just wish the Plymouth Rocks(Bantams) would do it quietly, 2 of them are going for it as we speak ...they have to march in and out of the shed , walk around the  run , in out ...yell squark ....finaly maybe you get an egg...

Just about a week and i can go choose some more girlies....not bantams i hasten to add..
