Well I'm now regularly getting one egg a day (between three girls) and sometimes two a day!

Every egg is special, and every day it's like Christmas opening the nest box to see if I have an egg or not!

4 of my girls have been laying well all through the winter, 5 out of 6 now laying regularly, the other one always stops laying at the end of October and starts up again in March, she will be 3 years old this year.

I have had 124 eggs from the girls since Jan 1st and 16 from the 2 Bantams.

The bantams are now both broody and they are sitting on 6 Black Pekin eggs...

Our Bantams, Poppy and Pansy have yet to lay an egg even though they were laying at the farm and they've been with us since last summer

The Speckldy, Sussex and 1 of the Ambers are laying daily, out of the other 2 Ambers one's in moult and the other is a 'temperamental' layer

The Sablepoots wont lay for weeks yet but that's OK

She is 37 weeks old (last Sunday - hatched on 23 May 2010).  And I've had 8 eggs... not entirely sure when she started laying as she was stashing them away - sillybilly!

Hi all,  Im still getting 2 eggs a day from 20 birds and 1 duck egg from my indian runner.  hows everyone else girls laying now.

We're now on 1 -2 every day from four hens aged two and a bit...  Not bad, we think.  The bluebelle (unimaginatively named, Bluebelle) is now laying more than ever before, but the warren (Wilma) much less so.  She gave us around 300 eggs in year one.  She's probably exhausted!!
Resorting to buying greens this week as we've run out of sprouts and spinach in the garden.  They seem to lay better with fresh greens and layers mash, so it's worth the extra expense and we don't have to buy eggs...

My pure breeds are just starting to come back into lay after stopping for the winter months, with the exception of my Barnevelders, both of which laid on average 3 eggs per week all through the winter. They are coming up to 2 years of age and have been  reliable layers since day one.
A good indication of pending lay is the colour of their combs - hens who are laying or about to lay develop a lovely red comb that seems to glow (mine do anyway!). Just be a little patient - with 20 hens you'll soon be knee deep in eggs!

5 ex bats.  4-5 eggs a day.  Neighbours and work colleagues are very happy!  Unsure who lays what though, and I've started finding eggs in odd places!

5 chickens - 5 eggs a day. I got them POL in Sept, 1st egg 10/10/2010 and have had 336 since then! They didn't even slow down over the worst of the weather - what good girls!!

3 chicken eggs today and 1 duck egg.  just need some warmer weather now and hopefully they will soon all be starting to lay.
