Comb pecking and Softbed

One of our Light Sussex is having her comb pecked by one of the older hens.    We've put some vaseline on the comb in the hope this doesn't taste nice to the pecking hen - didn't want to use anti pecking spray for fear of it getting in her eyes - can anyone suggest anything else if this doesn't work?   

Also - has anyone used Softbed?  It's made from the rape plant.  I've been assured it's poultry friendly; I just want to know if it's effective on the coop floor (currently use wood shavings) or if anybody had any problems with it.
