Runers and more Runners

This year I grew them in tripods (RED RUM) had wonderful flush of beans in June as mine were out early and protected...then nothing due to heavy blackfly infestation now... they are in full flower again with more beans developing... is this unusual?

I grow some in the garden up a trellis against a brick wall, and some years it gets too hot for them. I've noticed they only flower when the weather is perfect for them, and have a rest while it isn't, then come back again.
The ones in the open on the allotment have just grown and flowered steadily.

runners are a hardy lant i have had em cropped by rabbits to the ground n then still come back, after i killed the bunnies of course
