I have 2 large black plastic council bought compost bins for my household veggie scraps,autumn leaves,some grass clippings and egg shells.You`ve seen them,the ones with the door you can lift at the bottom and wonderful compost pours out!! lol :tongue2:I find I have to dig the compost out,but it is good stuff eventually.

As soon as the weather warms a little past freezing,I find there are worms trying to get to the top of the lids.They did this in the summer too.....loads of them then.it seems they are trying to escape.or are they looking for warmth on the black bin lid?

How can I make a happy worm home ?

I try to aerate the rotting stuff,it doesnt seem too dry nor slimy.

I've just taken delivery of 2 lovely new compost bins and put my first bits and pieces in today ...
...  but I really hate worms.  I know I shouldn't but I was really hoping they would stay nicely hidden.  I'm going to dread opening the lid it they are squirming up the sides  :blink:

I'm not keen on touching worms either so I just make sure I'm wearing gloves when opening my lotty bin.  They don't move fast and so long as you use the lid handle you don't really come into contact with them if you don't want to.
