Tame Pheasant on Allotment
« on: January 25, 2011, 12:27 »
I've just been told that our allotments have a pet pheasant that visits everyone while they are weeding.  Hhhhmmmm, just what do you think he may be interested in tasting?  Do they eat green veg?
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

The natural diet would be foraged grasses, grains and insects, things like that. I should imagine that wandering through someone's veg patch which has lovely pea shoots or perhaps berries or any young greenery, would give any self respecting pheasant many tasty snacks.

Its likely to eat alot of new greenery but they arent very smart.  My grandmother has a large garden in the country and so come hunting season hundreds of them take up shelter there, shes also an avid gardener and has various scary plastic birds and metal cats with eyes" etc and whilst the pigeons perch on them and the rabbits stare at them whilst munching her plants the pheasants are petrified
