F***ing slugs.

I've been growing black russian toms, one plant in particular had a beutiful massive tom on and i've been watching it develop for past month or more.  Almost ripe and I thought i'll just leave it another day, following morning half the bl**dy things gone :!:

Sorry froggy (resident amphibian) slug pellets are coming out.

I really wanted to be as organic as possible. But. There came a time when I got so cheesed off with everything being eaten before it started I had a purge with the pellets. Also in the garden.
I'm not being naive, but I've seen no difference in the amount of frogs, newts or birds. My garden and lottie (they're adjoined) are a wildlife haven, saw my first goldfinches the other day  8)
First timer, NOT enjoying the backache anymore!

I gave in last week too and got out the slug pellets - they were just eating everything.
I went to the garden centre to buy some and found myself looking round to make sure no-one I knew was watching me put them in my basket. :!:
The pleasure I felt when I went to my plot and saw all the dead slugs

i use pellets as long as you use them proper theres no big deal with em.
you can try all types of traps, barriers copper tape nemotodes frogs hedge hogs or whatever else is out there but the slugs and snails will just keep on comming.
whats the point in growing stuff just to see it vanish over night.
feed the soil not the plants
organicish
you learn gardening by making mistakes

Yeh! I totally agree.
I use beer traps in my garden at home and they do work but apart from the fact that it is costing me a lot the slugs just keep coming

Get free beer slops from your local, the big chains will probably be a bit sniffy, especially if you go in wearing your lottie fashion and have been tackling bramble bushes, or any smaller local sports or social clubs.

Alan Titchmarsh reckons they like flat lager, but that might be the softy slugs down south.

I dont think the pellets are as strong as they used to be. So you have to use more.
always have a target
and an objective.
