Cleaning eggs

I read somewhere that you shouldn't clean eggs as this removes a protective film from the eggs.  So how do I clean muddy eggs to sell to people? 

There's a difference between cleaning and washing.  You should not be selling dirty eggs to people anyway.  There are ways and means of producing substancially clean eggs if you want to do this.
