Spring has sprung
« on: January 20, 2011, 18:53 »
I know it is only January, and believe me it took me by surprise aswell, but today I saw the first daffodil flowering :D :D  :D :D

Is this a sign that winter has finished and we will all be out in our gardens in no time? :D :D

If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

It could still turn very cold again for about another six weeks or so before it is more likely to be safe to assume warmer temperatures are approaching.

Lovely to see spring flowers coming through though. We have loads of buds on our climbers now. I hope they're not too early!

Yes, it's really nice to see a bit of growth, all the snow drops are strting to poke their heads through and come into flower :)

I've not seen a swallow yet.

Oh hang on - that doesn't make summer either.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I think they were around straight after New Year, but we'd better get back on topic here. ;)

Still only buds here, as already reported. Although I've not examined closely for a day or so for signs of snowdrop etc. :)

Our lone daff which usually flowers by New Year has appeared and has a nice fat bud on it. The snowdrops are going great guns, the magnolia buds are fattening and hairy.

Tis flippin' cold though! :D

Checked my garden today (again) still no sign of crocus or snowdrops - not even a green shoot. Anyone else still waiting for that first sign of the spring to come.
