Daffs
« on: January 11, 2011, 16:37 »
I'm getting a bit worried about my daffies. I was trying to think back to the days before the milder winters, trying to remember when we used to see the first leaves coming through. For the past few years they have started in November and for three years we had one lonely daff before New Year. Last year it didn't flower till the end of December, this year there is no sign.

Anyone else the same? Or am I being too impatient? We are starting to get some green buds on the shrubs now.

I have to say, I don't remember them as early as that Tosca... Up here they're usually in full flowering swing by early to mid-February, which is much earlier than we used to get them down in the south east of England.

I keep planting them and the bleep tree rats keep digging them up!
Have noticed some coming up here though they won't flower for ages.....

It's just the one lonely one which comes out early, the rest are more normal. :D

What a difference a few mild days make! We have tulips and daffs up now, at least two inches. What a relief. :D
