hi all, i got my girls in the autumn and they were about 18 weeks old. obviously we didnt expect to get eggs from them over winter due to their age and lack of daylight. but when is it more likely to expect them to start laying, is it when the clock change or further into summer. i know no one can say for definate but is there a rough guide line.

hopefully by early Feb when the mornings and evenings are getting lighter your girls will start to lay  .
Depending upon the breed some don't start to lay until they are 35 weeks old and that isn't taking into consideration the winter nights.

Depends what they are too.  Our Hybrids we got late August ish, and half of them have been laying for about 6 weeks.  The Barred Plymouth Rocks of a similar age, out of the 6, we are getting 1 to 2 eggs a day, which started just over a week ago.

And someone gave us a POL Light Sussex, a Welsummer and a Buff Orpington, and we are getting 1-2 eggs a day from them too.  Also for the past 2 weeks.  So you never know!!!  :happy:
