Hi all    If i lined my cold frame with plastic and put a piece over the top then cover with the glass door would that do to sow seeds in.  any advice please  Michael

Depends on what seeds you're thinking about and that time of year.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Cold frames are one of the handiest things you can have. They're the bees knees for putting your seed trays in when the time comes. You just need to read the packets and sow accordingly. I won't be sowing anything for a good few weeks yet so I'm tidying up my cold frames and improving the bits of stick I use to keep the lids open in warm weather. If you ever get any cast off window frames - make a cold frame.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

As Noshed suggests, be sure of your times and weather before putting seedlings out into cold frames. They great tools but not guarantees against frost or freezing weather. But to give your frame more protection, here's a good tip:

I'd also add something over the top, like an old blanket.
