Merry Christmas!  Now it's time to start thinking about buying seeds for 2011, and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for good quality but cheap seeds?

As well as the major suppliers, You can get cheap seeds from places like Wilkinsons (own brand) Lidl and Aldi, once they get rid of the Christmas stuff.
I always get some from ebay as although you pay postage the charges are not as bad as the big suppliers and I've had good results so far

cheep seed good question i always say you get what you pay for the same goes for seed Wilkinson's and others have there own brand packets but it depends on what varieties you want to grow

basic varieties are usually the cheapest the f1's a bit more expensive i find Kings seeds are very competitive for both veg and flower seed prices i buy from  Kings and other suppliers again it depends on choice and what your seed budget is

I bought some from Lidl,some worked some did not, Chard and Runner beans were fab, peas not so good.

I have bought lots of seeds from these suppliers on ebay. Buy via their shop & both combine postage, so cheaper.

Great results with peppers, chilli's & tomatoes.

Tend to use plants of distinction as they have a good selection if I want a normal number of seeds per packet.

Also moreveg, they do seeds in small amounts so usually 50-60p for them. The amounts are smaller but that is usually what is used annually.

Other then these it is Wilkinsons and what may be available or on offer.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I'm going to share the seed ordering with my best friend here in Brittany, as she started gardening last year. Just finishing up the last of the trifle - really yummy!

Sorry, not much help for now, but I get mine in the local garden centre (Wyevale) sale in September - 50p-a-packet, all leading brands, but only whatever is left of course ...

I do exactly the same from our local Wyevale, plus every now & then T & M throw a £5 voucher at me. What I can't get between those, I get from Moles.

Try vegetableseeds.net they are Kings seeeds bought in bulk .they are cheaper than Kings

It all depends on how many you want. If you can share with others and store the seed well, Moles is the way to go.

Let's look, for example at carrots - the good old faithful Autumn King 2.

vegetableseeds.net = 95p for 2,000

Moles = £2.60 for at least 20,000

Now, if you can share & store, that's you and your friends catered for for the next few years having paid £2.60 for something that would have cost £9.50 from the other supplier.
