Broad Bean variety

Broad Bean variety

Which i the best to grow for picking as small/baby beans, or are they all the same but just picked young? :)

Most broad beans will get tough and leathery if you let them get too big. Not found one that didn't so I always try to pick them small which also means they keep producing pods for a bit longer.

The Sutton is pretty good - I've grown them in the past.

There's two prices / two suppliers listed - follow the link in previous post... Probably a different number of seeds too.  ;)

Yes - I've grown the Sutton regularly last five years and had very few problems with them and being smaller they don't need support.

The Sutton an excellent variety, I don't bother with anything else well behaved and a good cropper.

my favorite variety is imperial green Windsor because we like green beans they have a good flavour  we freeze some and they always retain there taste when cooked from the freezer a good all rounder bean :D

last year was a crop failure for my broad bean crop was not the variety but the ground was unsuitable learnt my lesson won't be setting broad bean on this ground again very disappointed as we always have a good crop of beans :(

Have you tried Red Epicure in my opinion they are a very good tasted bean

Is that the red flowered one celtic? forgot about that, grew it long ago, plenty of food for thought there.

Think they are white flowered but the beans are red skinned
