Do red mites die in winter?

no posts recently about the dreaded RM does the cold kill them off ? in the summer everyone seemed to be suffering one way or another and now it is as if the mite has fallen of the face of the earth ( which would be nice )

Like everything else in winter they probably go dormant.... seeing as they can survive something like 38 weeks without a feed, its no hardship to them

You still need to keep up your defenses and treat as if they were still active

Yes I've had a go with the blow torch. What it gives you is massive satisfaction as they crackle and pop, a slightly  charred hen house (or a burnt down hen house depending how careful you are) and the red mite problem reduced but not sorted.
