Shelf brackets
« on: December 07, 2010, 16:33 »
Does anyone know what the shelves are called where you cant see the brackets.  I thought they were called flying shelves and i'm trying to find brackets to put one up.  All the sites I've looked at come up with nothing so i must have got  it wrong .
I know how they work  and have  a nice piece of oak for it , just cant find the brackets anywhere altho I've looked at them before online so i must be calling them by the wrong name

Thanks

If the shelf is a good thickness and you are fixing to a solid wall a length of studding bar will be as good. Hubby is bound to have a piece of that laying around somewhere.

Being something of a pedant. Studding bar is a tautology, as studding is thread, it cannot be anything but a bar (unless it's threaded tube).   Cheers,   :tongue2: Tony.

Is that the same thing as threaded rod then?

I am a pedant and a carpenter who has erected lots of studding which is not a threaded bar. :)

Make sure you buy the floating rather than the invisible brackets (big waste of money!)

If it's floating it must also be waterproof. ;)
