Advantages of this bad weather...
« on: December 05, 2010, 13:46 »

Went to our fruit and veg wholesaler, and just asked on the off-chance if they had any knackered greens for our chooks. They said they'd just given a load away for peoples rabbits.  :(

But, they went through the back and brought out three boxes of lettuce and a box and a half of grapes!! All for a quid!.

As Joyfull said lettuce can make hens severely squitty, cabbage is much less harmful.

The bad weather has taken all the lichens off the conservatory polycarbonate roof, saves me a job. :D

And of course cold weather knocks pesky little animals on the head and stops colder countries from having locust and mouse plagues.  Makes you feel sorry for those poor Australians basking in permanent sunshine!  ::)

I even did a little of that 'peck-a-block' recipe that was posted on here. The chooks didn't go mad for it, but they did take it nice and slow....

The poops get frozen so some are easier to brush up but then some are frozen to the ground and hard to knock off.  So dont really help much.

Frozen poop, according to my 2 dogs, is quite a delicacy!  I think it must be doggy equivalent  to ice pops, the dirty bleeders cant wait to get out and start licking the poop!

And the snow completely hides the poops you've missed so garden looks nice and tidy.  Gonna have to get the hose out when the thaw comes.   :(
