Was watching Jimmy's Food Factory the other night and saw a 5ha glasshouse for cucs! They grow them at an angle so the cucs hang down without touching branches/leaves which can encourage bending. I don't mind a curvy cuc but I'm going to try this next year, as it should also make it harder to miss cucs in the foliage!

I saw that too and thought @ah so that's how they do it' because I've never grown a straight cucumber before. Great idea but it's a shame the misfits get binned though.

I assemble a square section long clear plastic box around an embrionic cuc or two to produce straight  AND SQUARE cucumbers.  Great talking point at the show.   Cheers,   Tony.
