new run against north facing wall
« on: December 01, 2010, 00:39 »

My chickens are kept at my allotment about 90ft by 30ft.
I want to build a new run (15ft by 8ft)over the winter sited along a 4ft high north facing wall. It's the most sheltered part of the plot. The site suits me but can anyone see any problems for the chickens?
They do get to roam most of the plot upto 10hrs a day(spring, summer, autumn) and at least 1hr even in the winter.

Run on northern side? Covered in frozen snow today. Wind direction around Liverpool is often north of west. Having said that, if they have another area which is protected/covered then they'll be fine. It won't get sunshine for much of the year so may remain damp and they may need another area for sunbathing and dustbathing.
