For being so much better in taste and texture than anything you can buy in a supermarket it has to be sweetcorn.

For sheer weight of produce you get per square foot of growing space it has to be runner beans (and they are always pricey and usually too large in the shops.)

For the sheer sense of triumph in succeeding with a plant which seems to contain a "death-wish" gene inside every seed it has to be cucumber!

(Sorry, how many choices are we allowed?)

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I'd have to say carrots for that one! :)

Well you can guess the first one  :D

But for sheer pleasure with little work and great taste is has to be parsnips

I don't think I can decided its either cabbage or sprouts.

Cabbage for its versatility but I think the sprouts have the edge for taste. I didn't have the space for them this year, they're low value and I thought (wrong) Id use the space for other things.

Peas.
No, courgette.
No, asparagus.
No, Parsnips.

Oh, I can't decide.

All of them.  I'm now trying to think of a vegetable that I don't like but can't.

I think in a previous life I may have been a rabbit!

Being from 'up north' it has to be leeks for me.

the baby ones can be used like spring onions, mature ones go in all our winter soups, they can be used as a veg on their own or creamed in a cheese sauce.

Best of all they are available for most of the year if you sow several varieties.

I second that.
Although I love every one of my babies (except the beet "root".... but still I grow them)
I failed number of years trying to grow okra. Why would I try that at all? :)
next year my try is going to be the aubergene challenge with my stripped aub from d**ies is raring to go.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...
