a compost question

After lifting my frost-bitten winter potatoes, I will have three large barrels worth of compost.  I know you aren't supposed to replant potatoes where they've already grown, so I won't put potatoes back in - but can the compost be reused for growing other veg - or even for flowers?
Or does growing spuds in it make it unusable again?

Aces - thanks for the advice.  I really didn't want to have to just get rid of it!

I heard somewhere, quite possible this site, that you cant put strawberries in soil/compost that has had potatoes growing in it, im not sure why though
