hi, i'm in my first 5 months so most of what i am doing is preparing my beds etc.
i have bought scrounged a lot of strawberries and as i don't have any rotted manure as yet i was wondering what is the best thing to plant them with?

Manure is a soil conditioner but has relatively few nutrients.  A well-balanced general purpose fertiliser in the spring would be beneficial, then you could add a tomato food once they've got going in order to stimulate flowers / fruits.

How about a bit of bone meal to encourage root growth at this time of year then proceed with Yorkie's advice in spring.

Christine is on the money. Strawberries are a woodland plant and are not used to a rich soil base. They are best left 'till spring when a little feed will help them when they're fruiting. A mulch of well rotted leaves will help to keep frost off during winter.
