Hello all,

Our Girls have all got winter colds after all it seems to be the season for it hehe.  well we went to the vets and got some Tylan But the directions are in grams. As far as i have been able to figure out the dosage seems to be 1 1ml spoon per Ltr of water, I've been giving them this for 6 days now and this dosage just doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.

Anyone knowledgeable know the right dosage?, im worried that i am under medicating the girls and their not getting the Meds they need to get better 

I used it as per the instructions and it was 2g per litre..... hard to weigh out so I weighed out the water and then added the powder as if you did it the other way round the scales didnt register the weight!!

I also added to warm water otherwise it clumped together and didnt disperse at all

My vet recommended half a teaspoon per litre and the hen died 2 days later
One level teaspoon sounds about right but it is a bit of a lottery with sickly hens. Just read all the posts!

thanks for all the reply's all, we have a vet appointment tomorrow, and hes more than likely going to prescribe Baytril (in drop form) since tylan doesn't seem to be working.. But i will Keep a note of the 1 level teaspoon per litre dosage for another time... after all there is Always another time with our lovely chooks hehe 

A Level teaspoon is 5ml and if it's similar to flubenvet, that weighs around 5.5grams.  You can pretty much work on 1ml = 1gram.  Of course it depends on how well packed it is but as a rule of thumb that's OK.
