         I`ve never grown onions from seed,   but now i`ve been given a load of seeds there from moles  but with no times to sow. can anyone help me with this please.  Michael

which variety are they Michael? some varieties are sown earlier than others

Boxing day* is the traditional time to put the onion seed in trays of compost.

* timed to avoid the washing up .

you can get seed for over wintering onions as well, which would need starting now, I think.........
that's why I was asking the variety name

i have been trying to grow onion from seed for a couple of years now without results this year is the first year iv had results from setting onion seed  varieties grown where Hyfort and Bugatti [moles seeds] i see Moles have a new variety on the market called Globo apparently according to there catalogue the onions can reach 1KG but its not recommended for storage
