We have three raised beds, about 4' square and 2.5 to 3' deep.  Is it possible to grow apple trees in them?  I don't really want to plant directly into the garden as I already have trees and shrubs etc but the idea of them in planters seems quite nice.

Any thoughts anyone?

you shouldnt have any problems ,  make sure the trees are staked , well fed and watered

You certainly could grow them like this - but isn't it a bit of a waste of space?  They do not need special treatment.

You're right about the waste of space but we have loads of space elsewhere and I think they would look nice where the planters are.  They would be more ornamental I suppose but I would like some fruit eventually from them.
