Manure / compost

Hi i've just been given about 3/4 ton of horse manure!!! So generous LOL!!!

Can i put this in my compost bin to enrich that or do i just leave it? :?  I'm really not sure what to do with it...... it's quite fresh so can i make a 'tea' with it ? (for the plants not me!!!)

Any suggestions would be appreciated....... should of thought about this before I picked it up really!!! :oops: i'm a bit too eager for my own good really!!!

Needs to be well rotted to be useful. So if it smells, well, sh*tty, then you'll need to leave it a few months or so. If it's in bags this will be fine. If it's a pile - well you'll have to live with it for a bit.

If you've got that much it will mature pretty quick. I would make a nice neat cube with it and cover the top. By November it will be ready and you can spread it on your beds to protect them for the winter. It won't smell at all when its ready. I've kept horses all my life so I know my 'muck'! I wouldn't mix it with the compost myself, its more of a soil conditioner than a feed so better to put on in autumn and use compost in spring. Also it will be loaded with brandling worms, so you can start your own worm composter from it.
