I have read on the site that fbb takes 3 months to break down enough to do any good.
Would it be better to apply it say, in January (to be effective for the Spring growth surge) as putting it on now could be a waste?
I'm debating whether to dress all the beds.......
What crops need fertilizer in 3 months (Christmas time)?
My raised beds are pretty rich with top soil, manure, some home compost and fbb put on about July.

The different contents of fish, blood and bone break down at different rates, for example bonemeal can take up to 6 months to break down. As a general rule it's best to apply FBB about 4 or 5 weeks before you want to feed your plants by raking it into the surface of the soil. I just use it from spring onwards and for heavy feeding crops every 4 - 6 weeks thereafter. Over wintered veg will benefit from a top dressing of FBB early in the new year say in February or early March.

I've been meaning to ask the same question about FBB as I've been given some as well.  I got my winter onions in the ground about 3 weeks ago so I'll try sprinkling some on in Feb.  Cherers
