Pomona Fruits
« on: October 09, 2010, 10:52 »
A company called Pomona fruits are offering a selection of fruit trees and other fruits at what seem like good prices.
Anyone have anything to say about them? Good or bad!

Thanks

Elaine

Hi Elaine,

I've never heard of the company, but their website looks good.   If you're not sure about this company, then surely you have all the choice of garden centres at Crews Hill or on the way out towards Brookmans Park where you can see what you're buying?

You are quite right argyllie.
Have not been to Crews Hill for some time, but a Victoria plum at my local favourite garden centre yesterday was £35.
I guess it makes sense to buy what I can see, even if it means waiting till next year!

Thanks for your reply

Elaine

You will get Victoria plums for under £5 at Aldi and Lidl.

Was the Victoria at your local garden centre in a pot?  Pomona fruits' trees are bare rooted which would make them much cheaper.  I don't think there is any great advantage in a potted tree at this time of year and the Pomona site looks OK - no phoney pictures anyway.  I would not wait until next year - the sooner your tree is planted, the sooner it will be cropping!

Forgot about Ayletts too. They would be a good place to look. :)
