...yeah, might have a pop at a little garlic then, perhaps I can intersperse the garlic in a new bed with some more of my everlasting supply of onions??  The mind boggles!!

The only thing to bear in mind with completely interspersing them, is that the over-wintering onions will be harvested months before the garlic.  You'll run the risk of treading on the garlic when digging the onions, and will have gaps left in the bed once the onions are up.  I'd recommend keeping the garlic to the side of the onions so that the space is usable after harvesting.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

ive always grown t and m first early autumn planted onions and they have kept past april really well.
