Anyone tried drying tomatoes or apples in a microwave?
« on: September 20, 2010, 22:02 »
The idea just hit me. I did some dried tomatoes in my oven last weekend but it was a very frustrating experience because my oven is a tad basic and can only be switched on via the timer, which has a 2-hour limit on it. So if I want to keep it on for longer than 2 hours I have to go back and switch it on again, which is a very laborious way of drying tomatoes or apples, and I have an awful lot of both at the moment. To be honest, I can't imagine it's all that cheap to keep an oven going for hours on end, even at a low temperature. I've dried herbs in the microwave, which was very fast and easy, but I've never tried it with anything else.

Anyone tried this? If so, any hints or tips for apples and tomatoes?
