Ducks with an egg blockage!
« on: September 20, 2010, 19:43 »
Hi

I got home tonight and my duck was not looking too good, I then went to fetch it in about 5 min later it was standing above an egg but was still looking off. I then massaged the duck and out pooped another egg but with out a proper formed shell.

Have any of you experienced this and is this common in ducks, also will the duck be ok now or should I get it looked at?

Thank you

Sounds like she was just struggling to lay a soft egg which can take a lot out of them. Make sure she has plenty of calcium and is on layers pellets.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
